I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Rhode Island in 1996. I then attended Regis College from 09/1999- 05/2001, where I was awarded the Grace M. Nicholson Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Pediatric Nursing. These academic experiences provided a strong foundation in understanding learning, behavior, and patient-centered care, particularly in pediatric populations.
I am currently employed as the Director of Health Services at an elite boys’ school serving grades 7–12 where I support the physical and emotional well-being of adolescents in a school setting. On June 4, 2020, I received the Joseph P. MacDonald Award for Outstanding Service to the School, recognizing my dedication and contributions to the community. In addition, for over 20 years, I have tutored nursing students and prepared graduates for the NCLEX exam, working with students at various stages of their academic and professional development through one-on-one and small group instruction.
My teaching approach is grounded in methods that align closely with nursing practice, emphasizing critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and real-world application. I incorporate NCLEX-style questions, case-based learning, and various real- world scenarios to strengthen both test taking strategies and clinical judgment. I focus on breaking down complex material while creating a supportive environment that reduces anxiety and builds confidence. I tailor my instruction to each learner, helping students become not only successful test-takers but also competent, confident nurses. I am always kind, calm, and supportive in all I do.
