I am a proud alumna of Spelman College, where I graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language & Literature and International Studies! Being bilingual is a huge part of my identity and an element that helps me to connect with learners from all over the world. After my undergraduate experience, I pursued my Masters of Education from Lesley University (Cambridge, MA) in 2017. At Lesley, I earned my teaching certification for Secondary Humanities (English and History) in the state of Massachusetts. In January of 2022, I began my academic quest as a scholar-practitioner in Vanderbilt University’s Leadership and Learning in Organizations (LLO) doctoral program. Since 2022, I have completed my doctoral studies and have been invited to join leading institutions in the UAE, China, and beyond!
My instructional style can be described as engaging, hands-on, structured, and learner-centered! For nearly a decade, I have served in institutions and classrooms across the private and public sector. My passion for travel and interest in learning new languages are the tools that have provided me with the opportunity to connect with learners from all over the world. Having taught the Humanities for my entire career, I feel that teaching and learning are about uniting the lived experiences of learners and creating safe spaces where learners understand that making mistakes and experiencing difficulties are natural elements of the learning process. Maximizing learning means putting students and their individual needs first! I am an educator who loves to incorporate learners' interests, and give them countless opportunities to grow through real practice, engaging discourse, and hands-on (activity-based) learning! I am positive that my approach will be a great fit for students who find success when they have structure, but are also encouraged to take academic risks as they learn and enhance their knowledge!
