I have a Human Services Associate's degree from Quigsigamond College. I double majored in Psychology and Elementary Education at Worcester State, receiving both my Bachelor's and Master's diplomas. My Master's is in Moderate Special Needs. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham phonics program which is a multisensory, systematic approach towards teaching the science of reading. I have worked as a Special Education teacher for 14 years with middle school students aged 11 to 14. I am trained to work with pre-K to grade 8, as well as with a wide population of students with special needs, including Autism, cerepral palsy, dyslexia, communication disorders, and learning disabilities.

My students end up learning how to read the alphabet as well as different texts. They learn colors, shapes, and how to communicate with their peers. I am patient and encouraging. I incorporate a multisensory approach, including visualization and a tactile understanding. When teaching children how to read, I teach them through sound first. Then I teach them through writing with a crayon, which helps them to visualize. And after that, they may "tap" through the reading, which will allow them to grasp a higher understanding of the work.
