I am a licensed Reading Specialist and dedicated educator with over 17 years of experience in literacy instruction. I hold a Master’s Degree in Education and currently serve as a school-wide literacy specialist, where I lead Instructional Leadership and MTSS teams. My professional background is centered on evidence-based practices and the Science of Reading, ensuring that every instructional decision I make is grounded in proven pedagogical research.
My teaching methodology is built upon a Structured Literacy approach. I have completed comprehensive training in Orton-Gillingham (OG) principles, which allows me to provide explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction to students who struggle with decoding and spelling. In my current practice, I regularly implement research-based curricula such as UFLI Foundations for early literacy and the Anita Archer REWARDS program to help older students master multisyllabic word decoding and fluency. This combination of multisensory techniques and systematic intervention allows me to bridge significant learning gaps for students who have not found success in traditional classroom settings.
Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of learners, primarily across the K-8 spectrum. My experience spans from leading 5th-grade English Language Arts classrooms to providing intensive Tier 3 interventions in both small-group and one-on-one settings. Whether working with a 3rd grader building foundational phonics skills or a middle schooler needing advanced comprehension strategies, I utilize data-driven insights to tailor my instruction. My goal is to move beyond simple memorization, helping students build the solid linguistic foundation they need to become confident, independent readers.
