My name is Ashley and I am entering my last year as a graduate student in Tufts University School Psychology program. I currently hold a Master's Degree from Tufts. I also graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst summa cum laude, greatest distinction. I was a psychology major and minored in education. I am also completed UMass's Specialization in Developmental Disabilities and Human Services program.

I was a volunteer tutor for my high school's tutoring club for two years. I worked with my peers, of all grades, to help with their writing and math skills. My time in college has followed a similar path. I am a teaching assistant for Introduction to Psychology and Cognitive Psychology--classes of over 500 students. Due to the size of these lectures, I assist in the students' education by holding office hours and running review sessions, providing opportunities for 1-on-1 support. I also have experience as a private tutor.

My success in my math classrooms inspired me to tutor Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 in high school. During this time, I was able to see positives changes in my peers' abilities. Succeeding in AP Calculus, and Calc 1 and 2 at the college level, I have strength in math.

I have received various academic writing awards and achievements throughout high school. I was the recipient of an international grant, scoring in the top 10% of all applicants. Writing is an area I have always enjoyed and would love to help foster that passion in others.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

When taking this course, I had great success. I am confident in my ability to help in this area. I utilize a range textbooks to ensure various typed of problems, while also using them for structure. Some techniques I use are assigning brief homework and setting aside time at the end of each lesson for the students to try on their own. This work is then checked and corrected with both teacher and student.
Basketball

Basketball

I have been in love with the game of basketball for over 15 years. As a player, I competed at AAU national level and high school varsity. At this level I received several awards, such as First Team and State Semi-Finalist. I kept active in basketball by coaching several AAU teams in the age groups of 8th, 9th and 10/11th grade girls in the last 5 years. I also am a volunteer assistant coach at the high school varsity level for 3 years. As a coach I believe in mastering the basics to advance levels of the game.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have always enjoyed math. I have taken and completed courses up to Calculus 2. With success in the higher level math, my fundamental math skills, like prealgebra, are strong. I not only have had success in tutoring topics that branch directly from prealgebra, but in prealgebra as well.
Psychology

Psychology

I am currently finishing my B.A. in Psychology in the Honors College at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I am also a Teaching Assistant of two semesters for Intro to Psychology. I am also a TA for Careers in Psychology and Cognitive Psychology. All three TA positions are for classes at the collegiate level.

Great tutor!!!

Ashley is a great tutor. She is very prompt and professional. She has been working with my 8 year old son for over a month on building his math skills. He is showing a stronger understanding of money values, addition and subtraction of larger values as well as working on skip counting. My son enjoys working with Ashley and I Highly recommend her as a knowledge and friendly tutor.
