I graduated from Syosset High School in 2024 with extensive education and thorough knowledge of STEM subjects, particularly mathematics and science. I've taken and scored a five on the following relevant APs: Calculus BC, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics. I'm very familiar and very comfortable with algebra, calculus, etc., and I'm also open to teaching biology and chemistry up until the high school level. Currently, I am continuing my education at Tufts University with a double major in biochemistry and mathematics. I took Organic Chemistry I in the first semester at Tufts, with an ending grade of A, and also ended with an A in Calculus III. These are the STEM related courses I am comfortable teaching.
I have not tutored before, but I did have the opportunity to teach to friends in current subjects in a way that makes sense. This is particularly in the classes related to math and science. For example, I would explain the concepts and reasoning behind what was taught and related applications.
I also have had the opportunity to teach Mendelian genetics to a middle school student near home. We would meet at the library and she would show me the curriculum that her teacher would present in class. Any confusion she had related to the content I would explain to her with real life examples and visualizations. Once we finished with her biology portion, we would move onto math. At that point, she was learning pre-algebra, and I would explain to her the concepts and come up with new problems that are similar for her to solve and apply. If I am ever unable to come up with a relevant problem, I would resort to the materials she may have or Google.
I can be very patient with students and can find multiple ways to view a problem and solve it. When I was a Scout, I was also the designated trainer and teacher for certain subjects as well as tactical skills. I taught about 20 students in many subjects to help them move up in rank and achieve proficiency.
