Hi, I’m Kris! I studied Greek and Latin at Tufts University, where I also had the unique experience of tutoring two MIT professors in classical Greek. That early experience showed me how much I enjoy helping others make sense of challenging material, and I’ve carried that forward ever since.
After graduating, I spent two years in China teaching English at Shandong Medical University. I worked with undergraduates, graduate students, and staff in both one-on-one and group settings, and later taught large TOEFL prep classes. Teaching in a completely different environment taught me how to adapt my approach to the needs of very different learners.
Back in the U.S., I taught second grade math and science at Catlin Gabel School in Oregon. I also spent five years volunteering as a one-on-one tutor at Alma del Mar Charter School in Massachusetts, where I worked with elementary students who faced learning challenges. My time there reinforced how important patience, encouragement, and small victories can be in helping students grow.
Across all of these roles, my goal has been the same: to help students feel confident in what they’re learning. Whether it’s working through a passage in Latin, preparing for the TOEFL, or building a stronger foundation in math and science, I aim to make learning approachable and supportive.
