Hello, I'm Collin! I am a student at Tufts University entering my senior year this fall. I am a Biochemistry major with significant experience in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Biochemistry, as well as Genetics and Molecular Biology. I spent my first two years at Colgate University, where I had an overall GPA of 3.98/4.0 and major GPA of 4.0/4.0. I just completed my first year at Tufts, where I received a total GPA of 4.0/4.0 and earned the Karapetoff Cobb award, which is given to juniors with the highest class standing in the chemistry department.
After transferring from a small school with classes of no more than 30-35 people to a larger school like Tufts, where my major classes are often large lecture halls with hundreds of students, I have learned the importance of personalized care towards a student's education. While I have continued to do well in my classes, I have realized it is much easier to focus and be engaged when in a more familiar class setting with a professor who knows you personally. I strive to bring that sense of belonging and personalization to my teaching style. Not everyone, including myself, learns best by reading a textbook and trying to memorize the information in it. I work with students to explain fundamental concepts and help them break through learning blocks. I similarly allow students to practice what they learn through every step of the process, as I believe it allows them to be more engaged and learn more effectively.
While I have not formally tutored, I have studied with many classmates and helped them understand the material we are learning and fill in some gaps they may have missed. I thoroughly enjoy furthering students' education and helping them understand complex topics. I am always more than willing to welcome any resources or suggestions that students or parents may provide. I am easy to reach and will always respond as soon as I can! Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
