I'm a Biological Sciences graduate now working through the Biomedical Engineering program at Bunker Hill Community College. I graduated with High Honors and received the Academic Excellence Award for the highest GPA in the Biological Sciences: Medical Professions Option. I'm also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and have been on the Dean's List multiple semesters. My tutoring experience started before I came to college in the USA, during my first year of medical studies in a foreign country, where I tutored fellow medical students in mathematics and biophysics, connecting quantitative reasoning to biological and medical problems and learning to explain dense material clearly under real academic pressure.
Since coming to BHCC, I've spent more than two years as a math tutor, where I was specifically hired to tutor statistics, including working with students in Excel for data analysis. I currently also tutor chemistry, physics, algebra, and precalculus at ELC, working with high school students individually and in small groups. Over the years I've worked with students ranging from those studying for their GED all the way up to calculus, and I've consistently heard from them that they like my tutoring style. I adapt my explanations and pacing to how each student actually learns, and I focus on connecting procedures to the ideas behind them so students build real problem-solving skills instead of memorizing steps for one type of problem.
If you're a STEM major, I bring something most tutors can't: hands-on lab and project experience, including designing a Cell Biology procedure from scratch and currently learning finite-element modeling for cardiac simulation using TrueGrid, a specialized engineering software I was awarded a license for. That means I don't just teach the math and science, I show you how it's actually used to solve real problems.
