Bio

I have a passion for the French language that has allowed me to travel and teach internationally. I believe language learning early provides a strong foundation from which I have personally benefited. My experience includes teaching Vacation Bible School for students ages two to five for four years and teaching swimming at the YMCA for the past six years to children ages two to 12. I was able to witness the growth of students through both opportunities which has been very fulfilling.

I believe language learning early provides a strong foundation from which I have personally benefited. My experience includes teaching Vacation Bible School for students ages two to five for four years and teaching swimming at the YMCA for the past six years to children ages two to 12. I was able to witness the growth of students through both opportunities which has been very fulfilling.

I tutored classmates while in college and worked with English language learners for two years: first in southern Vietnam and then in western France. Through these experiences I have become more flexible and learned effective communication skills, particularly cross-cultural.

As a non-native speaker, fluent in French, I am well aware of difficulties one may have in learning French. Likewise, I have learned difficulties one may face in English language acquisition for any level. While my most recent experiences are in working with French and English, I am certified to tutor in other areas as well: namely proofreading. I have harnessed my superpower of overthinking to review and provide thoughtful feedback to help make writing clear and concise. I have exhibited strong academic performance in:
-Graduating Cum Laude Brooks School, North Andover, MA, USA
-Graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Spelman College Atlanta, GA, USA
-Being awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant fellowship to Vietnam
-Being chosen for the Teaching Assistant Program In France (TAPIF)
-Earning a Master's in Higher Education supported by the Rackham Merit Fellowship from the University of Michigan

Engaging, creative, and patient tutor

Brittanye has worked with our daughter to improve her skills in 7th and 8th grade French. Brittanye offers everything one could hope for in a tutor. She explains concepts clearly and patiently using a variety of approaches; she guided our daughter to problem-solve on her own by helping her to develop a tool set for studying a foreign language; she's very accessible; she's always well-prepared and even put together study guides to support our daughter's exam preparation; she is responsible, reliable, and communicative; and we always felt that she was genuinely invested in supporting our daughter's success. Today, our formerly Franco-phobe daughter is comfortable speaking French and hopes to study in a French-speaking country some day, a learning attitude that Brittanye helped her to cultivate. We feel fortunate to have found Brittanye on WyzAnt and recommend her highly!

My daughter looks forward to meeting with Brittanye and we both think the world of her.
