I have been teaching high school science and tutoring high school and college students for over 12 years, and it's a profession I love. I have been interested in teaching and tutoring since I was in high school myself, and I stayed connected to the field both in and after college by working as a tutor, teaching assistant, and then a full-time high school chemistry teacher. While I have worked in the area of chemical research, it has been my experiences as an educator that I have found most rewarding. Through effective communication and patience, I enjoy letting my enthusiasm for the material spark curiosity in others, and I'm happy to work with all ability levels.
I am a current, certified high school chemistry teacher with over 12 years of teaching experience (certification is in chemistry grades 8-12). I have a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Vermont, where I also took extensive coursework in physics and astronomy, and I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from Northeastern University. I teach high school courses in chemistry, physics, and astronomy, where I have particular experience teaching inclusion classes and working with students with disabilities. I regularly tutor high school students in all of those subjects, and I tutor college students in general and organic chemistry.
I am excited to help students improve their performance and understanding of science, both for its innate worth and its applicability in future careers. Please reach out to me if you are interested in learning more.
