Bio

Even though I majored in pre-medicine at Clark University, I have always loved the field of mathematics. Despite my demanding schedule, I took several courses in math. These included Calculus I,II, and III, Differential Equations, linear algebra, Multivariate Calculus, as well as Basic Statistics, Probability and Statistics, and probability for actuarial science.

These included Calculus I,II, and III, Differential Equations, linear algebra, Multivariate Calculus, as well as Basic Statistics, Probability and Statistics, and probability for actuarial science.
I am interested in tutoring students in middle school, high school, and college level Algebra I and II and Geometry. Most recently, I have tutored adults and teens who were preparing for the GED test. I found this job very rewarding as it was always a pleasure to see a student progress from struggling with math to succeeding in it. I enjoyed answering their queries when they had a problem. By listening to them, I gained insight about their knowledge of a particular type of problem.
I think that I was successful as a tutor because I am patient and approachable and value the success of my students.
While I was tutoring for the GED program students would approach me with worksheets. First, I would break the problem down into manageable steps. I would then explain what was being asked in the problem, and would relate to them how I arrived at that conclusion. I am not judgmental. This makes it possible for my students to say what they do not know.
Many times a student would ask me to explain a question many times and I never lost patience repeating it. I would go through each step and explain it carefully. Throughout this process, I encouraged the student to ask questions. It is important for me to know if my approach is helpful. I am open to suggestions.
