Hola, ¿qué tal?, me llamo Jim! I'm a trilingual tutor fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Originally from Nicaragua and living in Lexington, Massachusetts, I love teaching, going to the gym, networking, watching Netflix and spending time with my family. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, a master’s degree in Social Work, and I am currently pursuing an MBA, part-time. I have taught both Spanish in the past as an independent tutor and as part of volunteerism at my local Church on Sundays. I was also the Class President at the Boston College School of Social Work and I have always believed that, just as Martin Luther King Jr. once said: “Intelligence plus character; that is the goal of true education.” For this reason, I strive to empower my students with the tools to speak, write, and understand the Spanish language as a native.
Furthermore, I am confident to teach and help all my students to see the world through my teaching and personal experiences; while emphasizing diverse and inclusive perspectives. I love learning from my students and exchanging knowledge with them. I embrace the teaching philosophy that a teacher-student relationship is all about learning from each other, especially when studying Spanish involves also learning to understand the different and diverse cultures where Spanish is spoken. I am very much excited for this new journey and I hope we can have an interactive, dynamic, and enthusiastic class; one that makes you want to learn more about the Spanish language and cultures where this romantic language has been the daily means of communication and lively interactions for centuries. Therefore, are you ready to learn Spanish like a native? If the answer is a big Yes, let's do it together!
