About Jean Marie

Bio

I have nearly 10 years of of experience teaching at Bedford High School and Boston College. In addition, I have been tutoring students of all levels for more than 10 years - from 8th grade math to AP Calculus! I also help students prepare for the SAT and/or the ACT.

In the past ten years, I have tutored hundreds of students from Bedford, Lexington, Burlington, Concord, Woburn, Arlington, and Wellesley. I tutor students online as well.

I've taught many SAT boot camps. I wrote math content for the mobile apps Ready4SAT and Ready4ACT. I'm very familiar with the standardized tests and really enjoy helping students succeed with those exams!

I understand the multiple stresses students are under, especially as they endure the college application process with all its demands. I am eager to help students attain their goals in math!

I graduated with honors from Fairfield University with a math degree and education minor. I also hold a Master's degree in math from Boston College. I was the recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award at BC and the Teaching Inclusion Award from BHS.

ACT Math

I have tutored ACT math for over four years, helping dozens of students on this exam. I'm very familiar with the ACT exam - I worked for a startup for 1.5 years writing test prep questions for the ACT test as well as other standardized tests.
Calculus

Calculus

I taught Calculus at the high school and college level. I love teaching and tutoring Calculus - I think it's a fun course that develops students higher level reasoning skills. I taught AP Calculus AB for two years - every student passed the exam with nearly everyone scoring 4 or 5.
Geometry

Geometry

I taught Geometry for 7 years across all levels. I love Geometry and am eager to help students with this subject. I especially enjoy helping students reason through the many geometry proofs.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have over 5 years SAT tutoring and teaching experience. I've helped over 75 students prepare for the math SAT and I've taught several SAT Boot Camps. I've also worked for a startup writing math questions for the mobile app Ready4SAT, a tool that helps students prepare for the SAT.
Trigonometry

I have tutored dozens and dozens of students in Trigonometry/Precalculus and I taught Precalculus at Boston College. I think Trigonometry can be very fun and I like to help students succeed in the subject.

My son has been working weekly with Jean-Marie on his Calculus lessons. He is a freshman in college and has ADHD. Not only has Jean-Marie warmly welcomed his special “learning style”, she has supported his needs as well.
