Hi, I’m Shreya! I am a PhD student at Rice’s Computational Applied Math and Operations Research Program, and I graduated from Cornell this year with majors in math and computer science. I love STEM, and I am passionate about teaching and sharing my love for the subject with students! As someone who has challenged themselves in STEM throughout their life, I understand how difficult it is to advance into more advanced subjects when students are rarely given sufficient time to grasp the basics. As a tutor, my priority is to foster students' understanding, so they have the foundations to tackle more advanced topics.
I have 7 years of teaching experience. This includes 5 years of teaching advanced math to small groups of middle and high school students at Random Math, a specialized math coaching program based in California. I have worked with students in on Algebra, Number Theory, Measurement, Geometry, and Precalculus. In addition, I have 2 years of one-on-one tutoring experience, during which I worked with high school students on SAT and ACT prep and AP Calculus. I have also developed curricula and personalized lesson plans in math and computer science, allowing me to break down students’ goals into actionable steps that lead to where they want to be.
