I am a former high school and middle school English teacher with eight years experience of classroom teaching, 13 years of private and group tutoring experience, and 10 years of journalism/photojournalism experience! If you are looking for help with English, essay-writing, or want to learn a new hobby in the art of photography, you have come to the right place!

I have taught students of all abilities, including students with learning disabilities, ELL students, students with Autism, students with Dyslexia, and students with developmental disabilities. I have experience tutoring students in writing for standardized tests, technical writing, essay writing, and teaching students how to write reflective responses on themselves. Teaching is rewarding for me- I love when students grasp a concept that they thought they couldn't master. I love tutoring my content, but more importantly, I love helping students building the confidence they need to succeed! I am a certified middle and high school English teacher who knows what it means to struggle! I used to struggle in any and all types of math, so I understand the frustration of needing something explained multiple times. In my experience, the most important part of teaching is patience and empathy. If a student doesn't understand a concept or how to do something, we find a way that works for that individual student. In addition to my education background, I have a Master's in Journalism with a concentration in Photojournalism from Boston University.

I love helping kids, teens, and adults of all backgrounds learn, gain more confidence, and master their skills! If you need help with an ELA concept, need someone to break down material, or you simply need someone to help you write that college essay, reach out to me and we'll get to work! If you want to learn a new skill, such as professional photography, we can get to work in a way that works for you!

Bible Studies

In addition to receiving 16+ years of religious education (through K-College), I taught in a Catholic school for three years and needed to integrate the teachings of the church into my lessons regularly. In addition, as an English teacher, my job requires me to be familiar with different religious stories in order to teach ethics, philosophy, and allusions in literature.

Photography

I am a professionally trained photographer who attended Boston University and obtained a Master of Science degree in Journalism, with a concentration in Photojournalism. While there, I studied under a Pulitzer Prize Winning Photojournalist for four different courses. Additionally, I studied in Padua, Italy under the same photojournalist. I am trained to set up DSLRs, Mirrorless Cameras, and shoot photographs. I am also able to teach professional editing with Lightroom Classic.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

As a side job, I sometimes write newspaper articles for local papers. One year while teaching, I hosted and advised a free Journalism internship for students who were interested. I brought students around to interview people for articles, and then students had to write the article. This helped students develop skills to interview people and speak publicly. In addition, I also utilize Universal Design in my classroom. I create lessons that involve presentations for students to be involved in and share with others. If students are struggling with presenting, I first have them start presenting to me. Then, I move on to small groups. Later on, I have students present in bigger groups until they feel comfortable presenting in front of the class.
