I have a BA, MA, and PhD in Classics and Classical Archaeology. For the last ten years, I've taught Latin and Classical Studies at the college level at Bowdoin College, Bryn Mawr College, and Mount Holyoke College. My teaching style is interactive and tailored to each individual student, and I emphasize creating excitement and confidence with the material. Latin is challenging, and I want to support students by building strong foundations in Latin while also introducing them to the excitement of reading a new language. I have experience teaching at all levels of Latin, from beginning to advanced, but I'm particularly passionate about helping new Latin students get through the initial hurdles to enjoy their Latin experience.

I have a PhD in the archaeology of the Classical world (Greece and Rome). I have taught a range of courses in Greek and Roman archaeology at Bowdoin, Bryn Mawr, and Holyoke Colleges. These courses include introductory survey courses, upper level undergraduate seminars, and graduate seminars. I have also been conducting archaeological fieldwork and research in Italy for the last 15 years at Pompeii and other archaeological sites.
Classics

I've taught at the undergraduate and graduate level at Bowdoin, Bryn Mawr, and Mount Holyoke Colleges in a range of subjects, including Classical civilization courses in translation at all levels. As a graduate student, I took courses in Roman and Greek history, Classical civilization (reception of the Classical world, thematic courses), and courses on Greek and Roman literature. As a professor, I've taught courses in Classical studies on Roman history (Republican and Imperial), Greek history (Greek colonies and colonization), courses on thematic topics (Greek and Roman literature and its reception in modern film), ancient and modern colonization compared, courses on city and country in the Roman world, daily life in the Roman world, Roman topography and city life, and courses integrating Greek and Roman literature in translation, especially Pliny's letters, Catullus' poetry, Hellenistic pastoral poetry, Roman historians, and thematic courses on literary and historical topics, such as Roman slavery. I also spent a year teaching at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome, where I was a faculty member for the semester-long team-taught course on the city of Rome and its Classical world.
