Five Stars

Though our son is a high-achieving, self-motivated high-schooler, the structure Wendy provided during his college applications was invaluable. She demystified a process that has become confusing and complicated for parents and students alike. First, she was able to finalize a list of accessible and competitive colleges without us having to resort to a scattershot list of “maybe” choices. Next, importantly, she gave our son license to be himself during the writing process so he could present an accurate portrayal of his education, experiences and successes including some idiosyncracies that conveyed character rather than lack. Her feedback was balanced and honest – clearly indicating when something wasn’t working. She also emphasized something that was counterintuitive to us: that some college essay prompts require the student to be flip, funny, or quirky. Finally, she gave him the confidence to complete a Byzantine intellectual process. It seems more and more that each college is a Black Box with its own acceptance algorithm – Wendy knows the formula.
