My name is Luis C. I'm a native Spanish speaker from Ecuador, where language and culture have shaped my life since childhood. I hold a Bachelor's from Notre Dame and a Master's from Texas A&M, and I've spent over 13 years in the business world (primarily consulting) across Latin America and global markets. That mix gives me natural fluency plus a practical command of professional Spanish beyond what you'd get in a classroom.

My teaching experience began with two semesters of peer tutoring during graduate school at Texas A&M, where I prepared structured lessons. Students were mostly fellow graduate students in their twenties, plus a few professors in their forties and fifties, in settings that ranged from small groups to one-on-one. I continued this after starting my career, tutoring colleagues for a combined total of three years across graduate school and the workplace. Separately, I've spent two years tutoring colleagues' teenage children in high school-level Spanish. Across these settings, I've paired formal grammar instruction with cultural material like music and film, building vocabulary and listening skills alongside real cultural context.
That same approach carries into how I teach today: structured fundamentals paired with real cultural immersion, adapted to each student rather than a fixed curriculum. I work on pronunciation, grammar, conjugation, conversational fluency, reading comprehension, and writing, always building real confidence, not just memorization. My tutoring experience and business background lets me support a wide range of goals. From raising a grade, preparing for the AP exam, or building the professional fluency needed for a career touching the Spanish-speaking world. What sets me apart is that blend: native fluency, real teaching experience across age groups, and years of using Spanish professionally, all delivered in a way that keeps lessons engaging. I'd love to help you reach your goals with the language. Reach out, and let's get started.
