I’m a science tutor with a strong academic background and a practical, student-focused approach to teaching. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, followed by a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences from Ponce Health Sciences University. I also completed two years of advanced preclinical medical training, where I developed a deep understanding of core subjects like biology, chemistry, and physiology. Through this training, I learned not just the material itself, but how to break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, something I now apply directly in my tutoring.
My teaching experience includes working with both peers and younger students in one-on-one and small group settings. During graduate school, I regularly helped classmates and junior students prepare for exams by simplifying difficult topics and focusing on high-yield concepts. In my undergraduate years, I tutored middle school students in math and science, both online and in person, which taught me how to adapt my explanations based on age, background, and learning style. These experiences have allowed me to work effectively with students ranging from middle school to the undergraduate level.
My tutoring approach is centered on clarity, structure, and active learning. I don’t just explain concepts, I make sure students can apply them. This often includes walking through problems step by step, using visual aids or analogies, and reinforcing key ideas through practice questions. I also focus on identifying gaps in foundational knowledge, because many struggles in science come from missing earlier concepts. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but to build their confidence and develop a way of thinking that will serve them long-term in their studies.
