If you seek to ace or much improve your score(s) on any standardized test, or, help with any writing assignment/project (including Common App essays and wording) I am the tutor you need!

As my reviews confirm, I will work with you in an energized, enthusiastic, dedicated and thorough manner to enhance both your test-taking skills and strategies in all areas/subjects required.
I have effectively assisted students of all ages employing Princeton Review (the best) workbooks and I truly relish the tutoring task at hand!

Further, after 25 years as a general trial lawyer - now retired - I acquired the ability to describe, argue, write about, and expound upon myriad issues of every imaginable kind. Moreover, as an Honors graduate of Harvard in Social Relations, five years of Latin, and, being a zealous student of the English language with a sense of humor, I consider myself a consummate wordsmith, no matter what written challenge at hand.

What could be more valuable than improving and honing one's ability to most effectively communicate with/to others - whatever the context may be (i.e.- academic, civic, business, social, etc.)?!

It would truly be a privilege to help in any manner possible, and I look forward to working with you efficiently to achieve satisfying, optimal results!

ADHD

ADHD

As an Intensive Honors Program Cum Laude Graduate of Harvard in Psychology I was schooled in and studied comprehensively the psychological underpinnings of every conceivable behavioral conduct and well understand both the causes and symptoms of ADD and ADHD as manifested in given individuals of widely varying ages & backgrounds. Indeed, I even had the privilege of consulting with Dr. Ed Halowell regarding an ADD case in Lexington, Massachusetts- considered by many to be one of the foremost experts on/in the joint areas of ADD and ADHD. As an Honors Psychology student at Harvard I also benefitted from extensive clinical work at the Fernald State School in Belmont. With my academic and extensive professional background - spanning over 25 years - I have dealt with and helped many individuals with varying degrees of ADD/ADHD and definitely have the requisite knowledge and experience to effectively and graciously assist, work with and tutor such persons. In the end, compassion and patience are the most important elements in helping these individuals and I have am blessed with said qualities.
Chess

Chess

I have loved, played and studied chess and the history of chess for over 35 years and have on many prior occasions played for several hours or longer in one sitting - often with the added challenge of using time limits on all moves of as little as three (3) minutes total(!!) by means of a Jerger Uhren Dual Chess Clock. With the chess clock, combatants can win or lose either on the board or "on the clock" by running out of time as the dreaded red flag drops!! Over my many years of playing I have faced opponents of every conceivable level and consistently am able to hold my own - by now my years of experience enable me to see traps early and apply effective counter strategems. It would truly be a privilege to share my knowledge and passion for this amazing game with any student interested...
College Counseling

College Counseling

I have been Blessed with a Intensive Honors Social Relations (Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology)B.A. cum laude degree from Harvard, I am well-versed with both how to apply to appropriate, desired colleges/universities, and, what is required and/or expected for collegiate students to determine, pursue and succeed in their most personally-fulfilling curriculum once admitted to a given school. Moreover, as a Wyzant tutor a major portion of my lessons have involved (well-reviewed) SAT (and SSAT) Preparation and Writing, including a specific focus on optimal composition of the universally required Common Application Essay. These lessons have, of course, necessarily continually involved numerous students either applying to higher education institutions or already in college, seeking assistance in specific course assignments. Further, as a former trial attorney for 25 years, I developed a well-honed ability to plumb and know hundreds of varied individuals'(clients') primary goals and objectives, and, how best to serve as a highly effective advocate on their behalf. Finally, I firmly believe in and have directly benefitted from a fine College education and genuinely care about students' scholastic advancement, encouraging high-school students and many others (whether students of mine or not)to do everything possible to persevere and acquire a college degree for obvious reasons. Thus, I respectfully submit that my education, background, training and experience clearly qualify me for approval in College Counseling.
English

English

Blessed with an excellent education (Roxbury Latin, Newton High, Winchester College, Harvard University and Suffolk Law School), including 5 years of Latin, and having worked as a trial lawyer for 25 years (now resigned from law practice), I have learned to use English in every conceivable manner to express and communicate myself and issues at hand. Moreover, I have always loved the study of language and particularly the word history and etymology of the English language and consider myself a true wordsmith.
ISEE

ISEE

As I have effectively (as reflected in my reviews) tutored students over several years through WyzAnt (and on my own) for both the SAT and the SSAT tests in all subjects covered (i.e. - Math, Verbal, Reading Comprehension, Writing and Vocabulary), as well as the areas of Grammar, Writing, Editing and Latin, and, given that the ISEE overlaps the SSAT and is, in effect, a "subset" of the SAT, I respectfully submit that I am fully qualified to tutor students in ISEE preparation. My method of choice is to use the Princeton Review's "Cracking the SSAT & ISEE 2014" (which my research has confirmed is simply the best) which I own and require students to acquire their own copy. We then work - by well-paced and planned weekly lessons- methodically through the Review leaving no educational/instructive stone unturned! I am an Honors graduate of Harvard in Social Relations and spent 25 years as a practicing trial attorney (now retired) in every court, so I am comfortable with people; but, more importantly, I truly enjoy teaching in a conscientious, caring and enthusiastic style. Thank you. Anthony B.
Law

Law

I was a general trial attorney practicing law in every Court State & Federal for 25 years. My expertise in case prosecution was recognized by some 15 law firms who referred myriad cases to me - often due to their complex nature!
Literature

Literature

I have always had a definitive passion for literature... Is there anything that better captures and expresses human endeavors, dreams, inspiration and sheer ingenuity than all literature to date?... Can Shakespeare or Twain ever be surpassed?... I am versed in everything from Steinbeck to Vonnegut to Sartre and I love it all!
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have extensive experience tutoring all math covered by SSAT & SAT.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I was an Honors Graduate at Harvard University in Psychology and an integral part of my training was extensive, supervised work with emotionally, developmentally and physically disabled children at the Fernald State facility in Belmont, Massachusetts. With this background in connection with my professional education, training and experience I am well-qualified to work with special needs children/students in both institutional and/ or private settings. Perhaps most importantly I genuinely care for others and particularly those who are in any significant manner disadvantaged or disabled.
Study Skills

Study Skills

As an Honors student from elementary school through Harvard College I was trained in and learned superlative study skills. Then at Suffolk Law school to obtain my Juris Doctor Degree and thereafter pass the Mass Bar on my first attempt I had to and did further refine my study skills. Thereafter as a trial attorney for 25 years I had to even further enhance my study skills for trial presentations and briefs. Because of my diverse educational and experiential background I know precisely how best to approach and employ specific study skills for a wide variety of subjects and how to pass these skills on to a student of virtually any age.
Writing

Writing

As an Intensive Honors student in Social Relations (Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology) at Harvard University, I was required to write numerous papers on diverse and challenging topics both related to Social Relations and other areas such as Literature and Religion. As an Investigator for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination for four years and a former trial lawyer (now retired) for 25 years, I was constantly involved in written work of every kind and sort from investigative reports, to briefs, complaints and persuasive presentations for every imaginable forum.

Thorough and Cheerful

Anthony was a pleasure to work with. Every session he came prepared and went to the trouble of finding additional resources to assist my son's sessions for SAT practice. He was always organized, timely, and he held high expectations for homework for my son to practice before meeting again. Most of all, he had a very pleasant demeanor when working with my son.

Professional and Knowledgeable Tutor

Tony was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and flexible. I would suggest that Tony do a better up front job of evaluating the areas that need SAT test. He did very poorly on the math section and was obviously surprised by the questions. He did not have exposure to the type of questions prior to the test. I think that would have been very helpful.

Engaging

My son was not at all excited about Latin tutoring during the summer - who would be?!?! But after his first session with Anthony, he reported "It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. He makes it interesting, and he skis." When I asked if he found it helpful, he said "definitely." Looking forward to hearing how the second session goes today. Update 10/15/13 - Jack worked with Tony again twice over Columbus Day weekend. He found both sessions very useful, and I appreciate the fact that Tony is helping Jack develop strategies and a plan to learn vocabulary and endings going forward and not simply teaching him content. Jack feels good that he has a plan in place.

Passionate and punctual tutor.

It has been a pleasure to work directly with Anthony. He's flexible, communicates efficiently and is passionate about the English language. He comes prepared and ready to dig into whatever topic is being taught. I highly recommend Anthony to anyone that's looking for a grammar tutor! Thank you Anthony for your help and guidance!
