Jennifer is creative, fun and spirited, with lots of confidence boosting insights and tips. Our girl feels prepared for her ssat in a few weeks , ready to rock it. Thank you!
Jennifer met with my son for the first time last week. She was wonderful and he really enjoyed the session. He already feels much better about the SSAT process and is looking forward to working with her weekly until he is ready for the test! She is very knowledgeable and a great resource!
Jennifer showed the keen ability to recognize your child strengths and switch gears to problem areas very quickly. We're off to a great start!
Jennifer is helping my daughter prepare for the SSAT. She is clearly listening to her concerns and addressing each one to help her feel more confident. Seems to be a great fit.
Jen is great! My son loves her. She is so caring and effective. She could charge more - she is worth it! Hope she is not reading this!! And she is so nice - really cares about the success of her students.
My son has had two lessons so far with Jennifer and he really enjoys them. He's preparing to take the SSAT and Jennifer has mapped out a plan for his studies. She's assisting with all components of the test.
Jennifer exceeded our expectations! She came to the house ready and sat right down to work. She had some excellent suggestions about taking the PSATs but most importantly: she was very positive in her comments and helped instill some confidence in preparation for taking the test. That part cannot be underestimated.
Jennifer was excellent! She gave my son very helpful tips to help him with his SAT's. We plan on continuing with her over the summer so he can take it again in the fall.
My daughter has come such a long way with Jennifer! Her enthusiasm is off the charts and her confidence is contagious! We are so glad we found her!
Jennifer has changed the way my son thinks about writing. He looks forward to her visits and loves her energy, sense of humor, and all the "tools" she has shared with him. She honed right in on his interests, took tons of notes during our first visit, and appeared with a great book for him on her 2nd visit. He's hooked! We can't wait to see how he does in 5th grade after all his work with Jennifer this summer.
Jen is extremely helpful to my daughter. She is always very happy when she gets here and always helps my daughter with any questions. My daughter enjoys working with her and has asked to continue.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
A large portion of my tutoring experience has been working with students taking Algebra I. I truly love helping students transition to this more challenging type of math. I place a great deal of emphasis on how skills build upon each other as well as the steps of problem solving. My primary goals are to build not only skill, but confidence as well.
I am a Massachusetts certified teacher in grades 1-6. I have 20 years of teaching experience and have worked as a tutor for the past 11 years. I have kept my certification current through extensive coursework and attendance at workshops and conferences.
I have worked to prepare students for both the middle and upper level ISEE for the past 4 years. My students consistently score well and go on to gain acceptance to various parochial and private schools in our area.
A strong foundation in math is essential. Practice with both computation and problem solving makes students confident and successful. So often, I encounter students who know how to "follow the steps" but lack the understanding of why a problem is solved in a particular way or what the answer actually means. The use of the Common Core standards asks students to see the meaning behind the math--I can help give them that understanding.
I have tutored students preparing for the SAT/PSAT for the past 5 years. I have worked extensively to become fluent in my understanding of the updated versions of these tests that began last spring. My previous students have improved their overall scores by 100-300 points.
As both a tutor and classroom teacher, I have worked extensively with students who need to improve and practice their reading comprehension skills. I employ a number of strategies based on a student's specific learning style and strengths. As a passionate reader myself, I love discussing books and enjoy seeing a student's confidence in and enjoyment of reading grow!
I have been tutoring students in preparation for the SAT exam for the past 4 years. All of my students raised their overall score by 100-300 points. I am familiar with all parts of the exam and can offer strategies and review for each.
I have worked with students to prepare for the SSAT for the past six years. My students go on to perform well on the test and are accepted to a wide range of private and parochial secondary schools in the area, including Thayer Academy, Boston College High School, Notre Dame Academy and Milton Academy.
I have worked as a private tutor for 11 years and have assisted many students with their study skills. I use graphic organizers, various note taking methods and an understanding of learning styles. I recently attended a workshop on executive function which provided me with additional strategies.
