Hello! My name is Alyssa, and I am passionate about helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. I am a high-achieving student with a strong academic record, including a 35 ACT composite score and a 1470 SAT score, with a 770 in Reading and Writing. I have earned AP scores of 5 in AP Biology and AP English Language and Composition, as well as scores of 4 in AP English Literature and Composition and AP Computer Science A. Through advanced coursework and independent study, I have developed strong foundations in mathematics, science, English, and test preparation. In addition to my academic studies, I have completed Level 8 Voice and Theory through the Royal Conservatory of Music, earning First Class Honors and First Class Honors with Distinction throughout the program.
My tutoring approach focuses on making challenging concepts understandable and approachable. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to meet each student's individual needs. Rather than simply providing answers, I guide students through problem-solving strategies, help them identify patterns, and encourage critical thinking so they can become more independent learners. I am especially interested in helping students strengthen their skills in math, reading, writing, study strategies, test preparation, and foundational science concepts.
Through peer tutoring, mentoring, and collaborative learning experiences, I have worked with students of various ages and skill levels in both one-on-one and small-group settings. These experiences have taught me the importance of patience, clear communication, and positive encouragement. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically. I look forward to helping students gain confidence, improve their skills, and reach their full potential.
