My name is Andrea and I am nearing completion of a Master’s degree in Neuroscience & Behavior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I have gained extensive hands-on experience supporting in vitro and in vivo experimental workflows in an academic research environment, while developing a strong foundation in experimental design, scientific communication, and data analysis.
During my time as a graduate student, I had the opportunity to become a Teachers Assistant for Introductory to Biology, where I ran the discussion sections for this course. As a Teacher's Assistant, I communicated with the professor to implement appropriate lesson plans during weekly discussion sections which involved active participation and hands-on learning strategies to strengthen conceptual understanding of the material. One-to-One office hours were held to provide additional support to the students, adapting my teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners.
In addition to my academic teaching experience, I completed a Developmental Disabilities and Human Services program during my undergraduate studies and earned certification in 2023. This program strengthened my ability to understand working with diverse learning needs and communicate concepts clearly. I enjoy helping others succeed academically, and the more I teach the more I learn as well.
