For more than 15 years, I have helped 400+ international students from China, India, Turkey, Russia, Spain, Mexico, and a dozen other countries become more fluent in English and achieve top test scores on the TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, SSAT, ISEE (exclusively English sections). While students have individual strengths and areas of improvement, I have been teaching long enough that I can quickly assess how a student can improve efficiently by relying on my vast experience. I studied my undergraduate degree at a college known in academic circles for its great book program. I am an avid reader and have created English curriculum at the high school and university level.

By taking advantage of topics that interest my students and using grammar as the foundation for communication, I keep my students engaged and make sure that they see their progress from day to day. I live in a bilingual household. My wife and kids grew up in Mexico and I lived there for seven years. I also have ample experience as a translator.

I have prepared students from China, Mexico, Korea, Japan, and Russia for the TOEFL. In our classes, we will focus on the academic and social scenarios of the exam in reading, writing, listening and speaking. We will review test-taking strategies and take several timed practice tests. We will target your areas of improvement and increase your score as quickly as possible.

Writing is a skill that often gets too little attention these days. I have helped my students improve their writing skills by focusing on everything from spelling and syntax to proper structure and tone. I have shown students how to map out what they really want to say, how to organize a proper outline, and how to have polished writing while cutting out the fluff! Whether for business situations, school essays, college applications, or cover letters, my goal is to make sure that students can write effectively for their target audience.

Excellent tutor

Jeremy's lessons are very helpful for me. I'm a Japanese business man. I moved into the US six months ago and could not speak English fluently. Jeremy focused on teaching me English pronunciation and rhythm. I have studied English for over 15 years, however I have never practiced English rhythm. At first, I could not understand or enjoy it at all. Thanks to Jeremy's patience, my Japanese English like robots is improving a lot. Jeremy recommended me to record my own voice. (I did not like that.) However ,I can recognize that I have improved when I listen to my voice which was recorded before. In addition, Jeremy knows business well. He teaches me business English such as writing a business e-mail and making a presentation. I feel confident when I speak English in my office recently. I am so happy to report that I received 109 in my TOEFL exam at my first attempt with just a few weeks of studies. This was possible due to the expert advice and guidance provided to me by Jeremy. Excellent tutor for TOEFL!

I worked with Jeremy for a few months to get my TOEFL speaking score to 26. Before starting tutoring sessions I had speaking score 20 and improved very quickly. Jeremy pointed to my mistakes and areas of for improvement, so I could focus on my weaknesses. Only after 2 lessons I already could speak without pauses and pretty fluently. Jeremy helped me with my pronunciation and showed me some techniques how to logically connect my answers.
