Hello! I am a current PhD student at UMass Amherst in the Health Policy and Promotion Department (School of Public Health and Health Sciences). I previously completed my Master of Arts in Medicine, Health, and Society at Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Public Health with minors in Chemistry and Professional Writing at Meredith College. I am certified as a tutor by the College Reading and Learning Association. With tutoring, I am passionate about student success and improvement through a personal, hands-on approach that centers the student's goals and strengths.

I previously worked as a Writing and Peer Research tutor at Meredith College and also have worked as a graduate Teaching Assistant at Vanderbilt University. Through these roles, I have gotten significant experience working with students on writing assignments and essays, thesis statement creation, research project ideation and follow-through, and the interpretation and understanding of taught topics. In these positions, I worked one-on-one with students to create a tutoring plan that centered their learning style.

To do this, I take time to understanding the student and what they desire from tutoring session(s). What are the skills you are worried about? What are your existing strengths? Where and how do you hope to improve? How have previous teachers and tutors taught you? What worked/what didn't work? From here, I use this information to guide the remainder of our session(s) by centering student goals and directing instruction towards this. It is imperative to me that a student leaves the session feeling that they have learned something new, improved an existing skill, and have actionable steps moving forward.

I am also interested in college essay and graduate admissions assistance! As someone who has applied and been accepted to colleges, master's programs, PhD programs, and a DO school, I understand what it takes to craft a narrative-based, successful application.

Essay Writing

I have successfully applied to bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and DO programs with multiple acceptances in all fields -- I would love to help you do the same. If this is not where you're at, I am intersted in helping you craft essays designed for specific audiences that use reliable sources and cohesive narratives. Some of the positions I have had that have prepared me to work with you on this include: writing and peer research tutor at an undergraduate student success center (2 years), graduate teaching assistant (1 year), co-editor in chief of a college newspaper (2 years), multiple publications in academic journals and newspapers, and I will be teaching a junior year writing seminar in the fall. Learning and addressing your audience in the appropriate manner is imperative to successful and persuasive writing -- let me help with this!
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I have experience interviewing and preparing materials for graduate school, medical school, industry job, and internship interviews with a high success rate (multiple acceptances with funding and job offers). Interviewing can be challenging and it is important to put your best foot forward and represent yourself accurately and confidently. I would love to help anyone prepare for interviews at multiple levels through strength enhancement, strategy discussion, narrative building, and non-verbal communication skills.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I am a current PhD student studying Community Health Education at the University of Massachusetts School of Public Health and Health Sciences. I previously received a master's degree from Vanderbilt University and was accepted into a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program with multiple other interview offers. My acceptances came with multiple scholarship and fellowship offers, so these are materials I also have experience preparing. I would love to help students of all levels prepare personal statements and application materials for college, scholarships/fellowships, graduate schools, and professional programs. Here is a non-comprehensive list of graduate and professional schools I have received acceptances from: Vanderbilt University (attended), University of Massachusetts Amherst (Attending), Wake Forest University, Case Western University, Lincoln Memorial DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, and North Carolina State University
