Hello! I'm a passionate humanities teacher with a master's degree from Yale. I have seven years teaching experience in public and private settings, including three years teaching AP World and three summers as a lead instructor at Yale Young Global Scholars. I've mentored 9 students to 4s on the AP World exam. I love both the big questions of history and the nitty gritty details of test prep.
There's three things you need to succeed on the AP World exam -- content knowledge, historical reasoning ability, and what I call confident curiosity. In other words, you need to a) thoroughly understand the basic who/what/where information of history, and b) have the critical thinking chops to assess things like cause and effect or the trustworthiness of a source and c) you need to actually enjoy history and believe in your capacity to make sense of it.
I aim to foster all three qualities in my tutoring sessions. This means I give students tailored resources from my own classroom to help them learn the content and I review key historical thinking skills through core DBQ skills.
Feel free to contact me with any additional questions about how my sessions work!
