Hello! I'm Emmie! I graduated from Princeton summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Medical Anthropology and minors in Global Health Policy and American Studies. While I was a student, I worked at Princeton University's Writing Center, where I tutored over 500 students from various disciplines. As a tutor, I love helping my students reach their "AHA" moment.

My approach to tutoring is all about meeting students where they are. I believe every student learns differently, so I take time to understand each person's unique learning style, strengths, and challenges. Some students thrive with visual aids and diagrams, while others prefer talking through concepts or working hands-on with practice problems. I adapt my teaching methods to fit what works best for you.
I also prioritize creating a comfortable, judgment-free space where questions are always encouraged. My goal isn't just to help you complete an assignment—it's to build your confidence and develop skills that will serve you long after our sessions end. Whether you're struggling with a specific concept, working on a major project, or looking to strengthen your overall skills, I'll work with you to create a personalized plan that targets your specific goals.

I'm always open to collaborating with both students and parents. If you have particular resources, study materials, or teaching strategies that have worked well in the past, please share them with me! I believe the best tutoring happens when we work together as a team, and I welcome any suggestions or insights that can help make our sessions as effective as possible.

Anthropology

Anthropology

As an undergraduate student at Princeton University, I majored in Anthropology and graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 departmental GPA. I successfully completed independent anthropology research, including a 120-page senior thesis in medical anthropology. Throughout my studies, I gained extensive experience across multiple subfields of anthropology, including sociocultural, legal, and environmental anthropology. This breadth of knowledge allows me to support students working on a wide range of anthropological topics, from ethnographic methods and theory to applied research projects.
College Counseling

College Counseling

As a Princeton graduate who applied to over 20 colleges, I understand the college admissions process from both personal and peer perspectives. As a student, I worked with the Emma Bloomberg Center for Access and Opportunity to help high school students navigate the college admissions process and create strong college applications. I also worked at Princeton's Writing Center, where I supported students preparing materials for prestigious graduate schools and fellowships.
Essay Writing

During my time at Princeton's Writing Center, I provided constructive feedback on over 500 student papers across a wide range of disciplines, from the sciences to the humanities. I worked extensively with students on academic essays and research papers, helping them develop strong thesis statements, organize their arguments effectively, and communicate complex ideas clearly. This experience gave me expertise in diverse academic writing conventions and helped me develop effective strategies for guiding students through the writing process. I also completed over 40 hours of professional development training to continually strengthen my own writing and communication skills, ensuring I could offer the most current and effective support to my students.

Personal Statements

During my time at Princeton's Writing Center, I provided constructive feedback on over 500 student papers and applications across a wide range of disciplines and purposes. I worked extensively with students on personal statements for post-graduate programs, as well as job and internship applications, helping them craft compelling narratives that showcased their unique strengths and experiences. This experience taught me how to guide students in finding their authentic voice, connecting their personal stories to their professional goals, and making a memorable impression on admissions committees and employers. I also completed over 40 hours of professional development training to continually strengthen my own writing and communication skills, ensuring I could offer the most current and effective support to my students.
Sociology

Sociology

As an undergraduate student at Princeton University, I took several sociology courses during my time at Princeton. While I majored in Anthropology, there is significant overlap between anthropology and sociology in terms of research methods, theoretical frameworks, and analytical approaches. Both disciplines examine social structures, cultural patterns, and human behavior, often drawing on similar foundational theories and ethnographic techniques.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

During my time at Princeton's Writing Center, I provided constructive feedback on over 500 student papers, including numerous thesis and capstone projects across a wide range of disciplines. Having completed my own 120-page senior thesis in medical anthropology, I understand firsthand the challenges of managing a large-scale research project, from developing a focused research question to organizing extensive research into a cohesive argument. I can help students at every stage of the thesis writing process, whether you're refining your topic, structuring your chapters, or polishing your final draft. I also completed over 40 hours of professional development training to continually strengthen my own writing and communication skills, ensuring I could offer the most current and effective support to my students.
