About Alexander

Bio

I'm an MIT graduate with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, with three years of high school math tutoring and SAT/college prep experience. I scored a 790/800 Math SAT and earned a 7 in IB Higher Level Math & 6s in Physics and Chem. My love for engineering and math, combined with a desire to help students succeed makes tutoring personally fulfilling for me, and something I truly look forward to.

I specialize in working with students one-on-one, and my biggest strengths are my patience and approachability. I create an interactive, personalized learning environment where students feel comfortable voicing confusion and asking questions. My teaching philosophy is simple: knowledge builds upon itself, so I ensure students can walk me through concepts independently before advancing to more challenging problems.

In practice, this means breaking down complex problems into manageable, intuitive steps and having students explain their reasoning back to me--this immediately reveals exactly where confusion begins. I know firsthand how transformative the right strategies can be, improved my own SAT Math score from 620 to 790 through disciplined preparation methods that I now share with students. If you're looking for a tutor who combines technical experience with genuine care for student success, I'd love to help you achieve your academic goals.

Blender

Blender

I have taken clients who from never knowing how to CAD to designing their own Robotic hands. My CAD experience ranges from mechanical, architectural and product design to aerodynamic surface modelling and composite tooling design. I have at least 3 years in all of the following programs: Blender, Onshape, NX, Fusion360, Solidworks, Rhino and feel exteremly comfortable helping users transfer their knowledge from one cad software to another.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I wrote every single one of my college essays and supplementals completely solo - no consultants, no peer review, no parents editing - just raw, authentic storytelling that got me into MIT and Northeastern Honors College. I believe the best essays come from within, not from formulaic advice or over-polished drafts that lose the student's genuine voice. My approach teaches students to find that same independence and authenticity I used, helping them discover their own unique voice rather than relying on generic templates. I guide students to dig deep into their own experiences and translate those into compelling, deeply personal narratives that truly catch the attention of admissions officers.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

As aerodynamics team lead for MIT Motorsports, Formula SAE team, I have experience teaching inexperienced college freshmen and sophomores the fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics through workshops that I've designed for my team members. I have completed the MIT mechanical engineering curriculum, successfully passing all core classes with A's and B's. Coursework that I've mastered and understand intuitively enough to teach others includes Thermal-fluids Engineering I and II (Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat transfer), Aerodynamics, Numerical Fluid Mechanics, Numerical Methods and Computation, Hydrofoils and Propellers, Dynamics, Mechanics and Materials.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

My approach is to bring out your voice and your vulnerability. I've written over eight unique and highly personal 250+ word supplemental essays that got me into MIT as an undergrad, as well as a common app essay that got me into Northeastern. In my later career I've mastered my template for Engineering cover letters and personal statements, successfully scoring job offers for Red Bull Racing F1, Los Alamos National Lab, REGENT, as well as interviews at Tesla, Mercedes AMG Formula 1 Team, Joe Gibbs Racing and more.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I've successfully completed thermal-fluids Engineering I and II at MIT's Mechanical Engineering Department, having mastered applications of the 1st and 2nd thermo laws in a variety of real-life scenarios and contexts. I have a very strong understanding of Fluid Mechanics, having taken several graduate-level fluids courses (2.23 Numerical Fluid Mechanics, 2.29 Hydrofoils and Propellers) and done over two years of Computational Fluid Dynamics Research at MIT. I have significant heat transfer experience both through my MechE classes and through an internship focused on thermal management of a electric propulsion system.
