Hello, there! My name is Casey, and I am currently a licensed physical therapist on the East Coast. I graduated from MGH Institute of Health Professions earlier this year, and the bulk of my training has been in the orthopedics/sports setting. During my time as a graduate student, I worked with faculty on research projects and collaborated with my peers for a publication.
Previously, I attended The Ohio State University and received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. During my time there, I was both a University Host through Enrollment Services and a Tutor through the Student-Athlete Support Services Office. I worked with a variety of students across a range of subjects, although I worked quite a lot with English, Literature, and Anatomy/Physiology. I greatly enjoyed my time tutoring and was sad to leave the role once I moved away to attend graduate school. I have always enjoyed the learning process, and I am a big proponent of working smarter, not harder. I believe each student can tackle subject material in a way that suits his/her/their learning process, and I view myself as the medium or middleman to get them there.
As a physical therapist, I discuss self-management and patient education frequently, and one of our main goals with every patient is to ensure that they are able to manage their case once they are discharged from our care. I intend to utilize these ideas with tutoring; working with students so that they are receptive and understanding of the material, with the ultimate goal being for them to implement these strategies and study techniques in their future endeavors with confidence in knowing that they can learn any material they choose and they have the toolkit to do so.
I utilize my knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and psychology every day. Whether that be in working as a writer or in working as a physical therapist. I have deep knowledge of all three of these subjects, and I continue to learn more about these subjects with time and practice. I am most certainly a 'nerd' in this regard
