I believe tutoring should focus equally on mastering specific concepts and on developing practical, adaptable strategies for tackling new material in the future. My hope is that each student leaves a session not only with a clearer understanding of the topic at hand but also with increased confidence in their ability to structure and drive their own learning. I want students to see progress not just in their current studies but in the lifelong skills of critical thinking, self-motivation, and adaptability that will benefit them in any subject, classroom, or challenge they face.
I am currently a researcher at a biotechnology company, working on antibody engineering. I graduated summa cum laude with a neuroscience degree and have spent the last 2+ years working in the biotechnology industry. I scored in the highest percentile on both the SAT and ACT, and was top of my class throughout high school and college. I have tutored and worked with students of all ages (elementary through college level) for the past 7 years; most of this experience was in an informal volunteer setting. All this being said, I don’t believe being a good tutor solely relies on these kinds of achievements or metrics. I became a tutor not because of my academic standing or the desire to earn extra money, but because I am truly passionate about learning and understand the power that knowledge holds.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions and I look forward to working with you!
