Hello. I am a math professor at a local university in Massachusetts, and I am interested in tutoring most mathematical subjects. I enjoy the one-on-one interaction that you get when you tutor, and I want to help you be successful in your mathematical studies. I have won several teaching awards, and am very popular with my students. I became a professor because I have always loved helping people who are mathphobic to understand and even enjoy math, and doing so has been the focus of my work.

I am available evenings during the week and weekends so if you are interested in meeting me, please get in touch. I look forward to working with you.

I regularly tutor students in algebra, precalculus, calculus 1, 2, and 3, differential equations, linear and matrix algebra, probability, combinatorics, finite mathematics, introductory and intermediate statistics, and logic. I am also available to help with upper level math subjects such as real and complex analysis, among others.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have been teaching College Algebra for the last three years, and have extensive experience helping my students correct common algebra problems that they have from high school.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have been teaching college algebra (an accelerated combination of algebra I and II) at Framingham State for the last three years. I am very popular with my students, and devote most of my time at work to perfecting my techniques in the class.
Calculus

Calculus

Over the ten years I have been teaching math, I have usually taught Calculus I or Calculus II. I have taught it to students at community colleges, and students at top-ranked private universities, and have experience teaching to students of all levels of math ability.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I have studied ODEs, PDEs, and stochastic differential equations in undergraduate and graduate school, and I have TAed differential equations in the past.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I have TAed and taught discrete math several times, and taken graph theory, logic, set theory, and other related courses in undergrad.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I’ve taught math for elementary educators at my day job for the last half dozen years.
Geometry

Geometry

I have spent the last few years helping old students of mine with their geometry homework at FSU, and have taught the course once. I have tutored both high school and college geometry.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I took linear algebra in college, I have graded a linear algebra class in graduate school, and my area of mathematical research (operator theory) is the infinite-dimensional generalization of matrix algebra. My thesis result was about matrix multiplication (more or less).
Logic

Logic

When I was an undergraduate, I took graduate mathematical logic with a professor who had been a student of Alonzo Church. I spent the only all-nighter of my college career helping three friends finish the material of an online self-paced math logic class we had all signed up for. In graduate school I took and received an A in a seminar on logic and forcing arguments.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

As part of my college algebra classes, I regularly have to remind my non-traditional students about prealgebra facts which they have forgotten in the years since they were in school. I have extensive practice explaining these topics to math-anxious students.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have taught precalculus for 2 years, and have taught the concepts of precalculus as part of teaching calculus for over 5 years. I have a lot of experience explaining precalculus concepts in a clear way to students who are math-averse.
Probability

Probability

I have studied probability theory in graduate school, and taught several introduction to probability theory as a graduate student. I recently taught an actuarial probability course at FSU.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I got a 750 on the SAT Math way back in 1997, though when I took the GRE general test in 2002, I got an 800 on the math section.
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

I scored an 800 on the SAT Verbal when I was in high school, and I am familiar with both the content of the SAT and with tips and tricks which will improve success.
Statistics

Statistics

I have taught introduction to statistics a few times in graduate school.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I regularly teach trigonometry in Calculus and Precalculus classes.

Amazing teacher

Nicholas is thoughtful, insightful and a lot of fun to work with. I’d been looking for a tutor to help me with analysis, complex analysis, differential geometry topics for some time. I’m looking to build my skills as a student. Not just for test taking or courses but because I want to truly understand what I’m learning and develop deeper intuition and insight. I’ve gotten so much out of our lessons and I feel like I’m learning how to think, analyze and tackle problems from different perspectives which was my ultimate goal as a math student. I’m really enjoying our classes.

Amazing teacher! Extremely patient and knowledgeable

Nicholas was absolutely an awesome teacher! Spending 3 hours going over everything I was confused about for a final exam was extremely helpful, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. He made sure to write everything he was thinking/saying on the whiteboards and had a different one for each problem which was really helpful for keeping track of it all! Given the chance I'd want to get help from him multiple times! Thank you so much!

Great lesson!

Nicholas did a great job with my son. When the session was over my son felt much more relaxed and had some strategies to use going forward. We will continue to schedule sessions with Nicholas. He was very patient and very encouraging.

Easygoing and fluid

Nicholas makes it easy to skip from the subject matter at hand to other interesting diversions that were introduced through the lesson and weak areas that are exposed for review. Great teacher.

AMAZING

Great teacher, super knowledgeable and always goes above and beyond even though he is super busy. I appreciate him so much and is the only one I have to thank for saving my grade in my class and taking my failing grade to a B when I was aiming for a low C to just pass 😅👏🏻. Amazing teacher!
