Hello! My name is Christine! I am a teacher and a mother of three children. I have raised twin boys and a daughter. My children are all grown up now, so I have a lot of time to dedicate to my teaching. I live in Carver with my husband and pet bunny named Snuggles! I have always loved teaching second grade, but sadly my school has recently closed. I was a second grade teacher at Saint Jerome School in North Weymouth. This school is closing its doors this year due to financial difficulties and low enrollment. Four years ago I was a grade two long term substitute at the Osgood School in the Cohasset Public School System covering a maternity leave for the second half of the year. I spent the first half of that year at South River School in the Marshfield Public School System, also as a grade two long term substitute. I was a long term substitute that year because the other private school I worked at closed as well. I had worked at Holy Family School in Rockland for eight years as a grade two teacher until enrollment dropped, the school consolidated classrooms, and they eventually closed as well. I have been teaching grade two for a total of sixteen years, including my first four years of teaching in another private school when I first graduated from Stonehill College.
I am a certified teacher in Early Childhood Education K-3 (with and without disabilities). I have been trained in Reading Street, Journeys, and Open Court Common Core Curriculum. I was also trained in using Envision 2.0 Math Common Core Curriculum. I have experience using the Handwriting Without Tears program and the Telian Lively Letters program. I also have completed the IMSE Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Training during the summer of 2018. Orton-Gillingham is a program that helps children in need of a solid rules based/phonetic reading program. This program is often recommended for children diagnosed with dyslexia and/or other reading, spelling, and writing difficulties. I do want you to understand that although I have been "trained" in O
