About Carole

As a lifelong teacher, tutor & trainer, I'm passionate about helping students of all ages (we're never too old to stop learning!) achieve their goals. Instilling confidence is critical in learning, and through countless hours working 1:1 with students, I've come to learn teaching "people" is as important as teaching "subjects".

Parents looking for a tutor for their children will find I'm a certified teacher, well-educated and very experienced. I have a strong background in classical studies, having graduated from the prestigious Girls' Latin School (Boston). At an early age, I reaped the benefits of outstanding preparation, study habits and knowledge. I find this background extremely helpful when I tutor students who need to prepare for standardized tests like the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, and HSPT. Beyond GLS, I graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a double major (BS in Education/Sociology), from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

After teaching elementary school children in the classroom for 5 years, I spent the next 10 working 1:1 with some of the bravest students ever... youngsters at the Ronald McDonald House & Children's Hospital. Through these touching experiences, I truly saw the merits of setting individualized (yet realistic) goals. In the 10 years since my rewarding time at Children's, I've found working with middle school & high school students on standardized test prep, and overall subjects (math, grammar, writing especially) to be equally rewarding.

A word to my future students: your success is my success! While working with me, you'll find a non-judgmental, caring, compassionate advocate & coach who will work tirelessly to help you achieve your goals. I'll work to get the most out of your potential, and help you learn in the ways best suited for your style & temperament. Together, I promise you, learning can become rewarding no matter how stressful it may have been at times in the past!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
