About Me

Hi there! My name is Alejandro Nodarse, but you can call me Ale. I'm a PhD Candidate at Harvard University, where I study art and intellectual history. Art, history, literature – and education – are the central passions of my life. From Florida originally, I now live between Boston and Rome, where I write, research, and teach for a living. I'm on Wyzant to help you find success and to thrive in your studies. Whether you are preparing for an AP test, writing your first (or 101st) college essay, preparing for graduate school (MA or PhD), writing or revising a master's thesis, I am here to help.

My Strengths & My Teaching

I have particularly strength in the humanities. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Yale University, focusing on art history with courses in literature and the Romance languages. In high school, I received perfect scores (5) on sixteen AP exams, including History, English Composition and English Literature, Art History, and Spanish. I am very familiar with the AP Art History exam in particular, having taught and tutored this material for the past decade.

I've designed and taught various seminars at Harvard and at MIT and I have lectured at universities in the states and in Europe. I have taught and tutored as well through online academies for over five years, creating speciality, one-on-one courses for students of all ages. (These range from classes on Painting in Renaissance Italy to Nineteenth-Century French Art. View past courses here: www.alenodarse.com/courses.) I have also worked as a professional editor.

My Approach

As an art historian, I am trained to look closely, to attend to details (whether that's in a work of art, in an application or essay, in a seminar paper or graduate thesis) and to communicate through language. I am trained, as well, as a writer and editor – since it's through writing that our ideas are set down and shared. I approach all teaching as a dialogue, and I view the classroom as a space for exploration and discovery. Join me!
