I've also received 5's on the AP Chemistry, Biology, Calculus BC, and Physics C Mechanics exams. I'm excited to help you achieve your dream standardized test scores!
As a student, I've realized both how frustrating it can be to not be able to reach a goal you've set for yourself and how rewarding it is once you finally achieve that goal. As a tutor, I've fallen in love with the process of helping students understand difficult concepts and break through barriers in their learning. I have been tutoring high school students in standardized test preparation for three years now, and I can guarantee that if you are willing to put in the work, no score is unachievable with my help.
My usual plan for lessons is to spend the majority of our time working through problems together. My student will consider a question, propose an answer, or give reasoning for which answers seem reasonable. At this point, I step in and explain how to eliminate answers step-by-step, and explain unfamiliar concepts if needed. Towards the end of the session, I spend time explaining test-taking strategies; although half of test-taking is knowing the material, the other half is knowing how to take the test. I go over time-management strategies, how to make educated guesses, and how to approach studying. I usually find it helpful to assign students work in between sessions, so that I can better assess the student's progress.
Along with my experience tutoring students in standardized test preparation, I spent three years in high school teaching middle schoolers mathematics and English in both a classroom and one-on-one setting. I am confident that I will be the perfect choice for your test-taking needs.
