Hi! I'm Matt, and I love math. I've been a high school teacher for the past 25 years and love working one-on-one to help students demystify mathematics. Hi! I'm Matt, and I love math. I've been a high school teacher for the past 25 years and love working one-on-one to help students demystify mathematics. Beyond my classroom hours, I work one-on-one with students of all levels in our school's learning center. Over the past several years I've helped 100s of students in these drop-in sessions in courses ranging from Algebra I to BC Calculus. Some of these students were simply stuck on a homework problem, some needed to get caught up after long absences.
As a tutor, I'm energetic, empathetic, patient, and adaptable. I start each session by discussing goals and the approach for the day. The material a tutor knows is only as good as their ability to communicate with a student, so I tailor the conversation to the student's proficiency and learning style. If you're looking for somebody down-to-earth to help restore your confidence in math, I may be your guy.
For some background: I have a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia. I was also a student-athlete in college and earned a spot on the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll. I earned 800s on the math portions of the SAT and GRE.
