Helping children learn to read is my passion. I have nine years teaching experience in private and public schools and hold a national certification in Orton-Gillingham grades K-3. The Orton-Gillingham approach helps take the mystery out of reading and spelling by focusing on why words are spelled the way they are.
I have an MEd from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an English degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
I continue my education through professional development, gathering the latest research and strategies to implement with my students. I provide structured, systematic, multi-sensory lessons that are fun and engaging. I am also patient and understanding. I have taught diverse groups of students with Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. I work closely with each student, to help them understand key concepts, and provided the individualized support and praise they require. By using the Orton-Gillingham approach, I have empowered struggling readers to reach their full potential.
