I'm Anna! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Mathematical Sciences. In college, I found that individual, one-on-one attention from my professors was incredibly beneficial for my understanding of subject matter. I want to provide my students with the same level of care, attention, and support that helped me succeed. As a tutor, I begin by explaining a real-world application of the topic we are covering, as I find this helps students contextualize their knowledge. I then go into my lesson plan, where I explicitly teach the material, and finish with on-your-own practice time for the student. Of course, this method will be adjusted as needed for each student's individual needs.
During my time as an undergradute, I spent one year tutoring students in Psychology 101, which is equivalent to AP Psychology. In this position, I worked one-on-one with students in 60-minute sessions focusing on concept explanation, test preparation, and essay writing. Additionally, I have two years of experience as a Teaching Assistant for Multivariable Calculus and Mathematical Reasoning. In this role, I led weekly 3-hour study sessions where students could come and ask questions about homework, problem sets, and exam preparation. I provided one-on-one tutoring as needed, and led mini group lessons if multiple students were struggling with the same concept. In this position, I learned how to offer guidance and instruction in a way that supported the students' learning without giving away the answer.
I am also happy to tutor for SAT prep, GRE prep, and AP exam prep! I received a 1510 on the SAT (760 English, 750 Math) and a 328 on the GRE (166 Verbal, 162 Quantitative, 5.0 Writing). I also received 5s on the AP Psychology, AP Language, and AP Literature exams.
I want to support and empower the students I work with, and I welcome any suggestions, feedback, and resources that students and/or parents provide. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
