Hi! I’m Sydney — a PhD student in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at UNC Chapel Hill with a strong background in biology, bioinformatics, and science communication. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Health: Science, Society, and Policy from Brandeis University, where I graduated magna cum laude, and I recently earned a Graduate Certificate in Bioinformatics through the Harvard Extension School.
I’ve taught and mentored students at many levels — from leading college biology review sessions to introducing elementary schoolers to Python programming. At Brandeis, I served as a Teaching Assistant for “Cells and Organisms,” an introductory biology course, where I helped students navigate complex topics like cell biology, genetics, and physiology. I also designed engaging lessons for younger students learning to code, and I’ve mentored peers in lab settings and through mental health support organizations.
My tutoring style is friendly, flexible, and grounded in active learning. I tailor each session to meet students where they are, helping them build confidence while reinforcing key concepts. Whether you’re looking for help with high school science, college-level biology, or want to strengthen your data analysis or coding skills, I’d love to support your learning journey.
