Hey everyone! My name is Cade, I’m a CLRA certified master tutor who studied and tutored at Berklee College of Music. Though my degree is in Music Business, I took full opportunity of the musical opportunities offered by Berklee, and am diligently studying music everyday! While my time at school, I tutored all the “Core Music” subjects that Berklee offered, including ear training, harmony, tonal harmony, counterpoint, arranging and conducting. I also have extensively taught private lessons for guitar since I was 15.

I started on the guitar when I was 6, studying under several Berklee graduates, and immediately was in love with the personal and collaborative aspects of the music world. I am familiar with the private lesson environment from both the student and the teaching perspective. I have been learning from teachers for almost 16 years and have been the teacher for 8 now. I have taught students anywhere between 6 to 65 years old, though I most specialize in high school and college level students. Most of my experience comes from one on one sessions, though I have taught in group/ensemble settings as well.

My personal philosophy in achieving proficiency on the instrument is understanding the fundamentals and techniques, yet never ignoring the reason why we make music. A lot of teachers hound on the technique so much that students can lose sight of why they play and fell in love with music in the first place. I try to evoke that passion in all my students, it is indeed the most beautiful thing that music provides.

There are no right or wrong ways to think about music, but there are ways that are more conducive to creating specific sounds and styles. I don’t teach a spitting image of Berklee’s curriculum, going through the classes and tutoring them I have noticed many pitfalls in their methods that I think should be avoided or amended. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! I hope we can delve into a flourishing musical journey together!
