Hi! I’m Shoshana, and I am a tutor for introductory and general chemistry. I earned both my bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in chemistry, and I’m incredibly passionate about teaching chemistry.
While earning my master’s degree, I worked as a teaching assistant for general chemistry, organic chemistry lab, and chemistry for nursing courses at the college level, primarily teaching freshmen and sophomores. I led weekly small-group sessions to review course material, wrote worksheets and answer keys with clear explanations, and helped students develop effective problem-solving skills.
As a teaching assistant for introductory chemistry courses, I worked with students who had a wide range of backgrounds and prior knowledge. Some had already mastered AP Chemistry in high school, while others struggled because much of their earlier science education had taken place remotely during the COVID pandemic. I learned to explain difficult concepts by connecting them to students’ interests, experiences, and hobbies. I firmly believe that anyone can understand chemistry—it simply needs to be taught in the right way.
In addition to my college teaching experience, I have taught high school chemistry, where I developed lesson plans, led full classes, and worked closely with students both inside and outside the classroom. Teaching high school reinforced the importance of building relationships with students, meeting them where they are, and adapting instruction to different learning styles and needs.
Whether I am working with high school or college students, my goal is always to make chemistry approachable, engaging, and understandable.
