Hello! I'm a recent graduate of Amherst College, where I majored in Biology and English and completed a certificate in Culture, Health, and Science. In college, I pursued my academic passions across two research settings: a microbiology and immunology lab and a medical humanities collective.
I graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 2020 with a Classical Diploma, a prestigious distinction awarded to students who complete a rigorous Latin and Ancient Greek curriculum. Exeter is where my love of teaching began. As a first-year student, I volunteered as a Teaching Assistant at Main Street Elementary School, working in a 1st grade classroom to support math, reading, and spelling lessons. It was a wonderful and formative experience that set the groundwork for further pursuits in teaching. During the pandemic, I began virtually homeschooling students ages 5–16, and continued working with many of them long after they returned to school.
As a scientist who was once intimidated by STEM, I understand how important it is to create a kind, encouraging, and high-energy learning environment—regardless of the subject or a student's prior relationship with it. Beyond Math, I am happy to tutor K–12 Science, Reading, and Writing, and I also offer proofreading services. In my opinion, the study of Classical languages provides a unique understanding of language, writing, and grammar that nothing else really can, and I draw on that background—alongside my experience as an English major—when working with students in humanities subjects. I also assist with boarding school and college applications and standardized test preparation.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy cooking and baking, reading poetry, sewing, exploring new foods, and biking. I also love to travel, hike, and practice my daily yoga. Feel free to message me with any questions; I very much look forward to meeting you and your learner!
