Hi! I'm Juyun (or I also go by Sophie), and I graduated summa cum laude from Boston College with a B.A. in Applied Psychology and Human Development and a minor in Biology. My undergraduate studies emphasized education, child development, and psychology, while also providing me with a strong foundation in the sciences.

I have experience teaching and tutoring students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and learning needs, ranging from elementary school to college. My experience includes working as a special education teaching assistant at a public middle school, providing remote tutoring during the COVID-19 pandemic, tutoring ESL students, and helping college-level nursing students with chemistry.

I love working with children and helping students grow academically and personally! My tutoring philosophy is centered on helping students truly understand concepts rather than simply memorizing information or procedures. I believe that meaningful learning happens when students understand the why behind what they are learning, allowing them to think critically, solve problems independently, and apply their knowledge to new situations.

One of my strengths as a tutor is identifying where students are struggling, recognizing gaps in their understanding, and tailoring my explanations and teaching strategies to their individual needs. Drawing on my background in education, psychology, and special education, I strive to break down challenging concepts into approachable steps while building on each student's existing strengths.
