I've been teaching for four years and I believe deeply in the value of high quality literacy, history, and civics instruction that sparks a person's curiosity for a lifetime and broadens their outlook on the world.
As an undergraduate at Dickinson College, I pursued a dual degree in History and Theatre Arts while working as a writing tutor in the college writing center where I tutored my peers and attendees at the U.S. Army War College in writing structure, grammar, and research methods. I have also tutored high school students in preparation for AP U.S. History, AP World History, AP Government and Politics, AP Comparative Government and Politics the SAT subject tests. As a tutor, I fell in love with education and then became a public school social studies teacher in 2021 where I bring both my academic background in history and my artistic background in theatre to make creative and immersive lesson plans that capture students attention and broaden their horizons. In 2023, I obtained my Master's in Effective Teaching degree from the Sposato Graduate School of Education with a specialization in secondary education.
As a tutor, I can support students in a variety of fields at the secondary level. I have worked with both middle school and high school level students at all skill levels. I have worked with students struggling with homework, reading and writing, English Language Arts, and social studies classes. In addition, I've worked with many other clients including honors students seeking high scores on AP exams, high school seniors writing their college admission essays adults writing professional documents like resumes and cover letters, and even young actors developing their monologues.
