Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have a strong foundation in Algebra I, having applied it extensively throughout my academic career, from high school through college-level coursework. As a Harvard Medical School student with a background in chemistry, biology, and neuroscience, I’ve relied on algebra-based problem-solving in everything from physics to data analysis. I focus on making algebra intuitive, helping students break down equations, understand key concepts like variables and functions, and develop strong problem-solving skills. Whether you're struggling with linear equations, inequalities, or word problems, I can help you build confidence and master algebra in a way that actually makes sense.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

Biochemistry can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. I completed two semesters of biochemistry in college and continue to apply it in medical school at Harvard. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to master complex pathways, enzyme kinetics, and molecular biology, especially when preparing for exams like the MCAT. My tutoring focuses on simplifying biochemistry, helping students break down difficult topics, recognize patterns, and apply their knowledge effectively. Whether you’re struggling with memorization-heavy pathways, problem-solving, or test-taking strategies, I’ll help you understand the material deeply and approach questions with confidence. For MCAT students, I emphasize high-yield content and test-taking strategies, so you’re not just memorizing. You’re thinking like the test makers. Whether you’re prepping for an exam or need extra support in a biochemistry course, I’ll help you learn smarter, not harder.
Biology

Biology

Biology can feel like an endless cycle of memorization, but with the right approach, it becomes intuitive and manageable. I’ve taken AP Biology, followed by introductory biology, molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, and genetics in college. In medical school, I continue to apply these concepts, giving me a deep understanding of both the science and how to learn it effectively. I specialize in helping students connect concepts rather than just memorize them, making biology easier to understand and retain. My tutoring sessions are structured to simplify complex topics through clear explanations, real-world examples, and proven study techniques like active recall and spaced repetition. Whether you’re struggling with cell structures, genetics, microbiology, or molecular pathways, I’ll help you break them down. For MCAT students, I focus on high-yield content and test-taking strategies so you can approach biology questions with confidence and efficiency. For high school and college students, I emphasize building a strong conceptual foundation that makes exams and coursework far less stressful.
Chemistry

Chemistry

As a Chemistry, Biology, and Neuroscience major, I understand firsthand just how challenging chemistry can be. That's why I've dedicated years to helping students not just get through it, but truly master the subject. During my college years, I served as a General Chemistry Teaching Assistant and Tutor, and I taught Organic Chemistry for four semesters as a TA. I was also honored to be selected as a departmental Organic Chemistry Tutor, a role reserved for top-performing students. Beyond these roles, the academic support center specifically asked me to work with students who had previously struggled with Organic Chemistry I or II, and I'm proud to say I helped every single one successfully pass the course on their next attempt. I also provided one-on-one support to pre-health students and college athletes, guiding them through complex topics, boosting their confidence, and significantly improving their grades. Now, as a resident physician with a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, I continue to tutor Organic and General Chemistry. My approach is clear and step-by-step, designed to make even the toughest concepts easier to grasp. So, whether you're grappling with mechanisms, preparing for exams, or simply looking for a more effective way to approach chemistry, I'm here to help you succeed.

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I know finding the right tutor for your child can feel overwhelming, especially if online learning is new for them. My main goal is to make math less intimidating and genuinely enjoyable, helping young learners build confidence and strong problem-solving skills in a patient, supportive, and truly engaging environment. You might see my strong math background (from high school all the way through Harvard Medical School) and think I'm just about complex equations. But what's even more important to me is knowing how to make math fun and approachable for younger students! I use plenty of visual aids, interactive problem-solving, and real-world examples to make sure every session is captivating and perfectly tailored to your child’s unique learning style. Whether your child is tackling basic arithmetic, fractions, tricky word problems, or just starting with algebra, I break down concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps. This helps them not only grasp the material but also gain real confidence and independence in math. I truly get that every child learns differently, so I always adapt my teaching style to fit their needs, whether they're visual learners, hands-on problem solvers, or just need a little extra encouragement. With my patient and encouraging approach, I love watching frustration turn into excitement. My aim is to help your child develop a strong foundation for all their future math success. If you're looking for a tutor who will genuinely support, motivate, and personalize lessons for your child, I'd be so happy to help!
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

Good writing is really about clear thinking. My role as a tutor is to help you turn your strong ideas into a polished and persuasive essay. I enjoy helping students with a wide range of projects, whether it's a high school paper, a college lab report, a deep dive into a research article, or an admissions essay. My approach comes from real-world experience, both as a student in a top-tier graduate program and as a member of its admissions committee. Reading thousands of essays taught me what separates good writing from great writing for any audience: a clear structure, a confident voice, and an authentic message. That's the perspective I bring to our work. Whether you’re just starting an outline or are ready for a final polish, I'm here to help you organize your thoughts, strengthen your arguments, and craft an essay you'll be proud to submit
Genetics

Genetics

I earned a B.S. in Biology, where I took both genetics courses and lab-based genetics coursework, building a strong foundation in the subject. In medical school, I expanded on this by taking an advanced medical genetics course. Because genetics shows up repeatedly in medical education and testing, I understand how to approach it strategically and what concepts are most high-yield for exams. Whether it’s Punnett squares, inheritance patterns, or molecular genetics, I can help simplify complex topics and show you how to apply them efficiently on test day.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

Getting a med school interview is a huge achievement. It means the admissions committee already sees your potential on paper. My job is to help you walk into that room and confidently show them the impressive person behind the application. As a resident physician who has also served on the Harvard Med admissions committee, I’ve been on both sides of the interview table. I've spoken with many applicants and seen firsthand what makes a candidate truly memorable. It’s rarely about having a 'perfect' answer; it’s about connecting with your interviewers and sharing your story with genuine confidence. Our sessions are much more than just standard mock interviews. We'll work together to highlight your strengths, practice tough questions, and talk through any potential rough spots in your application. We’ll refine your answers until they feel natural, not rehearsed, so you're ready for whatever comes your way. My goal is to help you feel prepared, not just to answer questions, but to have a real conversation that shows the committee why you belong at their school.
MCAT

MCAT

As a resident physician with a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, I've been coaching students for the MCAT since 2019. Through initiatives I've led in both college and medical school, I've had the privilege of working with thousands of premeds. My triple major in Chemistry, Neuroscience, and Biology, along with a Psychology minor, means I deeply understand the science behind the exam. My experience tutoring subjects pertaining to the sections of the MCAT, make me equipped to help any student struggling with content review. More importantly, I know precisely how to approach it strategically to get results. I'm proficient in tutoring all sections of the MCAT. My approach isn't just about teaching content. I also zero in on mastering test-taking strategies: how to effectively break down complex questions, manage your time under pressure, and ultimately, think like the test makers. Many students already know the material but struggle with application when it counts. That's where I step in. I've helped students boost their scores by 8 or more points by refining their technique, and I tailor every single session to your specific needs. This includes personalized feedback, custom handouts, and even guidance on developing a self-study schedule using my proven MCAT study template. Beyond MCAT coaching, my experience on the Harvard Medical School admissions committee means I offer unique insights, having mentored students who went on to top medical schools.

We can also work on making your data clear with professional-looking charts and graphs, and I’ll share my favorite time-saving shortcuts along the way. Most importantly, we'll make sure your presentation tells a story that flows logically from the first slide to the last. Whether you're a complete beginner or just want to take your skills to the next level, I'll tailor our sessions to your specific goals. My aim is to help you feel confident and ready to build impressive presentations all on your own.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I majored in Chemistry, Biology, and Neuroscience, and I know firsthand how challenging chemistry can be. That’s why I’ve dedicated years to helping students not just pass, but truly understand the subject. In college, I worked as a General Chemistry Teaching Assistant and Tutor and spent four semesters as an Organic Chemistry TA. I was also selected as a departmental Organic Chemistry Tutor, a role awarded to top-performing students. Beyond the classroom, I was asked by the academic support center to tutor students who had previously not passed Organic Chemistry I or II, and I helped them successfully pass the course on their second attempt. I also worked one-on-one with pre-health students and college athletes, helping them tackle complex topics, boost their confidence, and improve their grades. Now, as a resident physician with a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, I continue to tutor Organic and General Chemistry, using a clear, step-by-step approach that makes even the toughest concepts easier to grasp. Whether you’re struggling with mechanisms, preparing for exams, or just looking for a better way to approach chemistry, I’m here to help you succeed.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I still remember how tough it was to write my own medical school personal statement. Trying to capture your entire journey in just 5,300 characters is a huge challenge, and believe me, I've been there. That essay eventually helped me get into Harvard Medical School, but what truly taught me what works was my time on the Harvard admissions committee. Reading applications gave me a clear, firsthand view of what makes a story stand out. I genuinely love guiding students through this process, and my coaching is flexible and built around you. We can work in a couple of ways. You can send drafts on Google Docs for detailed comments and big-picture feedback, or we can schedule live video sessions to brainstorm, tackle writer's block, and workshop sections together. If you're just starting out, I also offer brainstorming guides to help you find the strongest parts of your story before you even begin to write. My students have gone on to earn spots at top MD, MD/PhD, and other health professional schools. So if you're feeling overwhelmed by it all, you are definitely not alone. Together, we can craft a personal statement that truly reflects who you are and opens doors to your future.
Physics

Physics

I've always seen physics as a fascinating way to understand how the world works. My goal as a tutor is to make the subject feel less like a list of intimidating formulas and more like a set of powerful problem-solving tools. My own journey through physics took me from AP classes in high school to a full year of calculus-based physics in college. That experience helps me connect with students at all levels, whether you're tackling your first high school physics course or you're prepping for the MCAT. Our sessions will focus on strategy. Instead of just memorizing, we'll work on breaking down complex problems into simple, manageable steps. This approach is key for all students. If you're studying for the MCAT, we'll add test-taking tactics to help you solve problems quickly and efficiently under pressure. If you're in a general physics course, we'll focus on building a strong conceptual foundation that will prepare you for your exams and for future science classes. Whatever your goal is, I’m here to help you build real confidence and finally understand physics in a way that clicks.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I genuinely enjoy math, especially that 'aha!' moment when a tough concept finally clicks. My goal as a tutor is to create more of those moments for my students. I specialize in breaking down the tricky parts of pre-algebra, from fractions and equations to challenging word problems, into simple, clear steps that actually make sense. My own journey through advanced science and math, all the way to Harvard Medical School, taught me how important it is to have a rock-solid foundation. It also taught me that everyone learns differently. That’s why I always start by figuring out what works for you. We’ll move at your pace, focusing on why the math works instead of just memorizing formulas. For parents, I know that online tutoring has to be engaging to be effective. I keep my sessions lively and focused using an interactive whiteboard, visual aids, and problems that connect to the real world. My priority is to make sure every student is actively participating, not just watching a screen. My favorite part of tutoring is seeing a student's confidence grow. We’ll absolutely work to get you ready for your next quiz, but my real goal is to help you build skills and a positive attitude toward math that will serve you well for years to come.
Psychology

Psychology

I earned a B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology and served as a teaching assistant for psychology courses in college, helping students break down complex concepts into simple, understandable ideas. I also scored a 5 on the AP Psychology exam, so I know what it takes to master the material and apply it effectively on standardized tests. Beyond academics, my psychiatry rotations in medical school have given me a deeper, real-world perspective on psychological principles in action—something I incorporate into my tutoring to make the material more engaging and relevant.
Writing

Writing

I learned what makes an application truly stand out. First, as a student at Harvard Medical School and later as a member of its admissions committee. Being on the other side of the table, reading personal stories, gave me a clear sense of what connects with a reader and what doesn't. And while my own background is in medicine, I quickly realized the principles of a great story are universal. That’s why I enjoy helping people craft their narratives for a whole range of ambitious goals, whether it’s for an undergraduate application, law school, an MD/PhD program, or a competitive fellowship. My process is flexible and built around what you need. If you send me a Google Doc, you’ll get it back within 24-72 hours with plenty of in-line comments and big-picture feedback. If you're feeling stuck, we can hop on a video call to brainstorm ideas, work through writer's block, or workshop a tricky section together.

Better than my professor

Tola is an amazing tutor. I began working with her when I took Organic Chemistry 1 and didn't like how my professor taught the material. Tola has a deep understanding of the material, prepares before your lesson, and reinforces your learning by asking you questions instead of just giving you the answer. With her help, was able to understand Organic chemistry with much less difficulty. I did not learn much from my Ochem 1 professor, but with Tola's help, I got an A in the class. Tola is also a great influence to learn from. She is smart, good at time management, dedicated, and honest. As a pre-med, I enjoy hearing about her medical school experiences and she pushes me to be more motivated about my medical journey.

Kind and efficient tutor

Tola helped me out a lot while I was studying for my MCAT! We were able to get through a lot with each session. I was able to review my practice exams and errors much more efficiently with her spreadsheet/organizational recommendations. I tend to have trouble with a lot of biochemistry related topics, but Tola really excels in that area and had helped me so much with reaction mechanisms and how to strategize when answering questions!

Great tutor!

I reached out to Tola when I began an accelerated version of organic chemistry and wanted to obtain a B in the class. After working with her 1-2 times a week before exams, I ended the class in the A-/A range. Tola is very patient, deliberate, and organized in tutor sessions and gave me space to try to figure out my own questions with critical thinking before giving away the answer. She also places a large emphasis on understanding the foundations of the course rather than using memorization to get by, which I found helpful in filling some concept gaps I had! Overall, Tola is a wonderful tutor to help anyone feel more confident about the course they are in.
