My name is Christian. I'm originally from Miami, Florida and grew up in the thick of Miami's Cuban community.
Teaching is perhaps my greatest passion. Education is about more than the things taught, it's about how they feel. My fundamental principles are easing into material and keeping a relaxed environment for learning, and I've been applying them at MIT, where I've taught since 2014. Perhaps my favorite part of the job is the opportunity to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. In the past year, I've taught abroad, in Brazil, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. I'm fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
In addition to teaching calculus at MIT, I've served as a freshman advisor and introduced new courses into the MIT curriculum. When I teach, I emphasize that no question is dumb, and no one is too behind to start learning. This is some of what I hope to bring to students I tutor as well.
I've always looked to tutoring as a way to contribute to learning in my local community. In addition to math tutoring I do in the Boston area already, I am setting my account on Wyzant to find more students.
