Viola & Violin:
I studied viola with Eric, first violinist of the Manhattan String Quartet, and Katherine Lewis, a pupil of the late great Lilian Fuchs. In high school, I served as principal in most of the 14 ensembles I played in and led two music mentorship programs providing free private lessons to elementary and middle school students. As a section leader, I also regularly ran sectionals and coached peers through difficult passages.
I was accepted to Eastman School of Music for viola performance but chose to attend UCLA, where I studied neuroscience. I served as principal violist of UCLA Symphony all four years and founded Music in Medicine at UCLA, connecting volunteer musicians with patients at Ronald Reagan Hospital.
Technique and expressiveness are paramount. I build fundamentals through etudes, scales, and Bach while making room for auditions and repertoire. Lessons are tailored to each student's goals but grounded in discipline and thoughtful practice. I am personable and supportive, while making sure students get meaningful value from every lesson.
Science & Spanish:
I graduated with Latin Honors from UCLA with a major in neuroscience and minor in art history. Throughout college, I frequently tutored friends through challenging chemistry and science courses. In high school, I graduated in the top ten of my class while taking numerous AP courses, maintaining extensive extracurricular commitments, and tutoring through National Honor Society.
I have visited Spain and can incorporate Spanish as needed (5 on AP Spanish; AAPPL certified, 2022).
I believe interest is the first step to learning. I adapt to how each student learns best—visual, auditory, or kinesthetic—and emphasize real-world applicability. I then build a clear framework, connect concepts to examples from their instructor, and encourage questions and deeper research rather than rote drilling. Framework first.
