Hello! I'm a structural engineer based in Boston, with a Master's degree in Construction Management from the University of Mumbai and about seven years of design experience in the Indian construction industry. In that time, I have designed more than 100 concrete and steel buildings, inspected sites, carried out structural audits and mentored junior engineers, so the subjects I teach are the ones I use at work. I have also passed the FE Civil exam and hold an EIT credential, so I have recently been through the same preparation my students are starting. During my Master's I tutored a group of undergraduate juniors in structural analysis, and all of them passed with strong marks.
My students are usually undergraduate civil engineering students, recent graduates preparing for the FE Civil exam, and working professionals returning to study. My strongest subjects are mechanics of materials, structural analysis, concrete and steel design, geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics, and fluid mechanics. I teach concept first: before we touch a formula, I want you to picture what is physically happening, such as where the load goes and why a beam bends the way it does. Once that is clear, the equations stop looking frightening and start looking like tools. I sketch almost everything, work problems together with you rather than at you, and give you plenty of practice questions, worked solutions and exam-style tips to use between sessions. For the FE, I also help you plan what to study when, and how to find things quickly in the FE Reference Handbook under time pressure.
If you are stuck on a subject, unsure where to begin with the FE Civil exam, or simply want stronger fundamentals for your career, I would be glad to help. Tell me what you are studying, when your exam is and what you find most difficult, and we can work at a pace that suits you. I remember what this felt like from the other side, and I would love the chance to make it easier for you.
