I hold a Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Electrical Engineering. My doctoral research focused on networked control systems with unreliable communication, and my master’s research focused on system identification and robust control for aerospace systems with uncertain parameters. I later spent seven years at MathWorks developing and delivering training for students, independent learners, and working professionals across a wide range of industries, using MATLAB and Simulink for applications in data science, machine learning, image processing, computer vision, deep learning, physical modeling and simulation, control systems, and model-based design.
I have spent about eighteen years helping people learn. That includes those years of professional training, plus roughly ten years of one-on-one tutoring with clients from high school freshmen to non-traditional and returning university students, covering algebra through multivariable calculus, differential equations, and physics; three years as a Supplemental Instruction leader in physics and calculus; and seven years as a teaching assistant from freshman engineering through senior controls projects and graduate-level mathematics, where I wrote assignments, ran labs and recitations, substitute-lectured, and mentored senior design teams.
My approach is tailored to your goals. I start with three questions: Where are you now? Where do you want to be? How can I best help you get there? Then we navigate together. Whenever possible, I strive to incorporate realistic examples and the bigger picture of how the current topic shows up in later courses as well as STEM industries. If that sounds useful, I look forward to talking with you!
